UPDATE: Man Armed With Machete And Tactical Vest Shot By Deputies Dead In Charles County

WHITE PLAINS, Md. — A man was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon during an officer-involved shooting in White Plains as deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant connected to an escalating domestic-related situation, authorities said.

The shooting occurred at approximately 2:37 p.m. on Feb. 11, 2026, in the area of Newport Circle and Cobbler Place, within a residential neighborhood that is currently under construction.

According to officials, officers were attempting to serve multiple warrants on the suspect when they located his vehicle on Cobbler Place. A short time later, officers initiated a foot pursuit. Within minutes, shots were fired, and emergency medical services were requested to the scene.

Police began rendering aid immediately after the shooting. Firefighters and EMS personnel arrived to find officers performing life-saving measures on the suspect, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. During medical treatment, officers determined the suspect was wearing body armor.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured.

Authorities stated the scene was isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

In accordance with Maryland law, the Maryland Attorney General’s Office Independent Investigations Division has been notified and will assume responsibility for the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
