PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Southern Maryland Bluegrass is set to welcome bluegrass artist Donna Ulisse & The Poor Mountain Boys for a special performance on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Calvert Elks Lodge, located at 1015 Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick.

Ulisse, a native of Hampton, Virginia, moved to Nashville in 1984, where she established herself as a singer, songwriter, and performer. Her career began in country music, landing a major record deal with Atlantic Records in the early 1990s. She gained national attention with appearances on popular programs such as “Hee Haw, Hot Country Nights,” and “Nashville Now.”

As her musical journey evolved, Ulisse found her true voice in bluegrass. Inspired by the solitude of the Clinch Mountains and time spent at her father-in-law’s cabin, she honed her songwriting craft, embracing the storytelling tradition of the genre. Today, her music blends her rich country roots with the unmistakable sounds of bluegrass, featuring banjos, fiddles, and mandolins.

Doors for the event will open at noon, with hamburgers and hot dogs available for sale until 2 p.m. Tickets are priced at $23 per person.
