WALDORF, Md. – Every week the ArtsFam Podcast brings you a list of all of the fun events you can enjoy this week! This Week’s Featured Event is Beanstalk! The Play! that is currently playing at The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) in La Plata.
Beanstalk! The Play! tells the classic story of Jack and the Beanstalk, but with a twist! This time around, the narrative is told through the lense of a fairytale for Jack himself. CSM puts it this way, “Filled with hilarious characters and more twists than a climbing vine, “Beanstalk! The Play!” is one show that’s guaranteed to grow and grow and grow right into your heart.”
During the same evening (or afternoon), a second play entitled Goldilocks will also be performed. The play is a fun, fresh spin on the original tale that has the titular character meeting Joe, the Bears’ species exchange student. CSM explains the show this way, “This fresh adaptation teaches young audiences the meaning of responsibility through its clever, upbeat dialogue and audience participation.”
Both plays are family-friendly, so bring the kids and have a wonderful time out together appreciating (and supporting) the arts right here in Southern Maryland. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the door or online. The show will play through March 3rd at The College of Southern Maryland’s La Plata campus at the Brad and Linda Gottfried Theater. For more information, please visit CSM’s website here.
