
Election workers at Calvert County’s early voting headquarters
Prince Frederick, MD โย A steady afternoon rain Thursday, Oct. 27 didnโt stop Southern Marylanders from heading to their countyโs designated early voting locations. Statewide, election officials reported a high turnout for the eight-day preliminary ballot-casting prior to General Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8. According to state reports, nearly 100,000 Marylanders had early-voted before 5 p.m. on opening day.
Calvert County Elections Administrator Gail L. Hatfield told TheBayNet.com voter lines had been long at the early voting center located on Duke Street in Prince Frederick since opening at 8 a.m. Poll workers from local Democratic and Republican parties, and even a couple touting the Libertarian Party, greeted parking voters. In St. Mary’s County, a steady stream of early voters also stood in line at the Hollywood Firehouse Carnival Building locatd at 24801 Three Notch Road in Hollywood.
Charles County earlyย voters have two locations: La Plata Firehouse located at 911 Washington Avenue in La Plata and the St. Charles Gleneagles Neighborhood Center located at 4900 on Kirkcaldy Court in Waldorf.
Early voting in Maryland continues every day (Saturday and Sunday included) Oct. 27 to Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Maryland voters have until Tuesday, Nov. 1 to request a mailed or faxed absentee ballot. The deadline to request an electronic absentee ballot is Friday, Nov. 4.
