SOUTHERN MARYLAND — The Southern Maryland National Heritage Area just launched an exciting new program that’ll allow you to visit historic locales around the region. Visitors can fill out their own passport with stamps obtained at each location as a memento of the journey, and we’re going to let you in on every location that’s been revealed so far.

Visitors can purchase stamp booklets online or bring one made at home. The first stop on your adventure is the Surratt House Museum, a building known for its Confederate roots. According to the Southern Maryland National Heritage Area’s Facebook post on Dec. 5:

“Our Heritage Passport Program is here! Collect stamps as you explore Southern Maryland’s historic sites, starting with the Surratt House Museum. Pick up your free passport and begin your journey through the region’s Revolutionary sites, Civil War landmarks, and cultural treasures. Stay tuned for more location reveals soon!”

The BayNet has compiled a list of active locations offering a stamp this December, so here’s a quick look at each historical site.

Note: Make sure to call ahead to ensure each site is open and to ask where at the location you can currently collect your stamp.
