UPDATE – State Fire Marshal Determines Newburg Commercial Fire Was Intentionally Set
NEWBURG, Md. – Emergency crews responded late Saturday night to a large commercial structure fire along Crain Highway in Newburg. According to dispatch, a passerby reported seeing flames coming from the building just before 8:55 p.m. on February 22, 2025.
Firefighters from multiple stations were dispatched to the scene as the fire quickly escalated. Initial reports indicated significant flames visible from the exterior of the building. Due to the scale of the incident, additional fire units were requested to assist with containment and suppression efforts.
Communications from the scene confirmed that crews encountered heavy fire conditions upon arrival. Units worked to establish water supply lines and conducted defensive operations to prevent further spread.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether anyone was inside the structure at the time of the fire.
