WELCOME, Md. — The Charles County Sheriff’s Office welcomed five newly certified correctional officers this week following their graduation from the Southern Maryland Criminal Justice Academy’s Corrections Entry Level Training Program (Session 74).

The following officers were officially sworn in Thursday:

  • Officer Anthany Coombs
  • Officer Aidan Higgs
  • Officer Joseph Mehall
  • Officer Jefferey Robinson Jr.
  • Officer Jeremiah Williams

A badge pinning ceremony took place that morning, with family members given the honor of pinning badges onto the new officers. Clerk of the Circuit Court Lisa Yates administered the oath of office shortly afterward.

Graduates, family, and law enforcement officials gathered again Thursday evening at Real Life Church in Mechanicsville for a formal ceremony. Each graduate received a final inspection and words of encouragement from regional law enforcement leaders, including Charles County Sheriff Troy Berry and command staff.

Several officers were recognized for outstanding achievement:

  • Scholastic Achievement Award: Officer Jefferey Robinson Jr.
  • Physical Fitness Award: Officer Jefferey Robinson Jr.
  • Steve Allen Leadership Award: Officer Jeremiah Williams

Graduates from Calvert and St. Mary’s counties were also celebrated during the event.
