LUSBY, Md. — A Lusby man is facing multiple criminal charges after prosecutors say he was found in possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia during an April incident. Charges were officially filed against 44-year-old David Edward Kroliczek on May 15, 2025, in Calvert County District Court.
According to court records, the Calvert County State’s Attorney’s Office formally charged Kroliczek with one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance not cannabis and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges stem from an April 8 encounter in Lusby, where authorities allege Kroliczek was found with suspected cocaine and multiple implements commonly used to ingest or store narcotics.
The criminal information outlines that investigators recovered a glass smoking device allegedly used for inhaling the drug, a white bendy straw reportedly used to insufflate the substance and a plastic bag said to contain or store the narcotics. The suspected controlled substance was identified as cocaine, a Schedule II drug under Maryland law.
Kroliczek is charged under Maryland Criminal Law Article §5-601(a)(1) for the possession of a controlled dangerous substance. That charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a fine of up to $5,000. The paraphernalia charges fall under §5-619(c)(2), which can carry up to four years in prison and $25,000 in fines per count if prosecuted under specific aggravating factors, though these current filings appear to reflect standard misdemeanor allegations.
The case is being handled by Assistant State’s Attorney John J. Navalaney and has been linked to a previously pending case filed under the related number D-041-CR-25-000366. According to a memorandum from the State’s Attorney’s Office, the new charges are to be joined with that prior case, which is scheduled for trial on May 27, 2025, in Calvert County District Court, Courtroom 2.
Kroliczek is being represented by the Office of the Public Defender.
