Jake Hale worked the first seven innings for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs as they evened up their series with the Somerset Patriots with a 7-3 victory.

Hale (7-3) had one of his best starts in a Crabs uniform giving up two runs on four hits with seven innings. Gary Moran (11-5) threw well allowing one earned run in 5.2 innings but suffered the loss.

Southern Maryland struck first with a pair of unearned runs in the 2nd inning. Steve Moss reached on an error and moved to second on a hit by Mike Schwartz. Angel Chavez and Bobby Stevens tallied RBI singles to jump out to a 2-0 lead.

Jeff Dominguez tied the game up at 2-2 in the 3rd inning with a two-out, two-run single.

Leading 3-2 in the 7th inning, the Blue Crabs erupted for four runs to pad their lead. Cyle Hankerd brought in the first run with an RBI double and two batters later Steve Moss drove in two with a two-run double. Schwartz hit a sacrifice fly for the final run of the inning and the game for Southern Maryland.
