40 firefighters responded to a one alarm fire located on Marshall Drive in Bryans Road around 10:15 April 29.
Firefighters from Bryans Road, La Plata, Waldorf, Accokeek, Marbury, Indian Head and Potomac Heights Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the call.
The fire, discovered by a boater, is said to have been caused by a malfunctioning furnace located in the laundry room.
Damage is estimated at $60,000 and two adults and one child have been displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. No injuries were reported.
