WALDORF, Md. — A Waldorf man is facing a firearms charge after investigators alleged he possessed a handgun without a required serial number following the execution of a search warrant in Charles County.
Court records show D’Vontay Keron Allen, 24, has been charged with misdemeanor possession of a firearm without a serial number. The charge stems from a search and seizure warrant executed Dec. 22, 2025, at a residence in the 3000 block of Gallery Place.
According to a statement of probable cause, officers with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office were conducting an ongoing controlled dangerous substance distribution investigation when they executed the warrant at the residence. During the search, investigators reported locating a handgun in a bedroom identified as belonging to Allen.
Charging documents state Allen was advised of his rights and agreed to speak with investigators. He allegedly acknowledged that the handgun belonged to him and said it had been built by him. Officers reported the firearm was a P80-style handgun that did not display a serial number or approved markings required under Maryland law.
Investigators further alleged Allen stated he purchased firearm components in another state, assembled the handgun, and later brought it into Maryland. Police reported no serial number was observed on the firearm during inspection.
Court records show Allen was initially held without bond following his arrest, but was later released on his own recognizance after a bond review hearing held Dec. 23 before Judge Patrick J. Devine in Charles County District Court.
A trial scheduling hearing is set for Feb. 20, 2026, in Charles County District Court.
