BALTIMORE – On Monday, October 23, 2023, Maryland Governor Wes Moore (D) announced his support for Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks in the Democratic Primary for the U.S. Senate, the race to see who will replace longtime Senator Ben Cardin.

The announcement was made during Alsobrooks’ rally at the Monument City Brewing Company. Moore and Alsobrooks have shown support for each other in the past as Alsobrooks endorsed Moore last year during his run for Governor.

Montgomery County Councilmember Will Jawando (D) also showed his support during the rally. Jawando announced on October 20, 2023, that he was ending his run for the seat.

Alsobrooks still faces a challenge from Representative David Trone (D-6th) who has already spent more than $10 million for his campaign.

“Baltimore is fired up! Honored to be surrounded by so many friends at our Baltimore United rally today. It is an honor to have the support of Wes Moore and Aruna Miller. I can’t wait to serve all of Maryland alongside them, and work with them to deliver for our families,” Alsobrooks stated in a Facebook post highlighting those who have supported her. “To my dear friend Will Jawando – a true advocate for working folks all across Maryland, thank you for your endorsement of my campaign. County Executives get the job done!”

The primary for the U.S. Senate Race is May 14.

  1. did you hear that, David Trone? We won’t know who all the candidates are until ? Not yet. Give the candidates a chance to sign- up. Please, lets not have this cost 25 million. The sign- up fee for candidates is less than 1000.

  2. Angela Alsobrooks has run PG to the ground. Crime is up 42% this year alone, carjackings up 500% since she took office. Litter is everywhere, roads still bad and services have been cut. You’d have to be an idiot to reward her with a Senate seat.
