
LATHAM, N.Y. – Guards Daryn Alexander (Twinbrook, Md./Richard Montgomery) and Micah Henry (Laurel, Md./Hammond) both represented the St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s basketball team on the 2023-24 Men’s Basketball All-United East Conference Volt Division Teams as announced Wednesday morning (Feb. 28) by the conference office.
Alexander earned his first-ever selection to the All-United East First Team following back-to-back appearances on the Second Team the last two seasons. Henry is picking up his first career postseason award with a spot on the Second Team.
Alexander finishes his Seahawk career as a three-time all-conference selection and a 1,000-point scorer. The 6-2 guard notched his 1,000th career point on February 19 as SMCM knocked off Lancaster Bible College in the semifinals of the Volt Division Championship Tournament. He is tied for fifth in the United East with a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio while ranking sixth with 1.9 steals per game.
Alexander, a team captain this season, also comes in ninth in the conference with a .480 field goal percentage while being 11th with 3.1 assists per game. He is also 14th with 15.4 points per game and 1.6 three-point field goals per game. He scored in double-digits in 24 contests this season, including dropping a season-high 31 points at Penn State Berks (Jan. 10) and tallying eight 20-point games. Alexander also recorded a pair of double-doubles.
A two-time career United East Player of the Week, Alexander wraps up his career with 1,017 points for a 14.1 career scoring average. He amassed 358 rebounds, 216 assists, 116 steals, and 39 blocks in 72 games played (66 starts). For his career, Alexander shot .446 (355-796) from the field, including .331 (95-287) from downtown. He also shot 70.4 percent (212-301) from the free-throw line.
Henry wrapped up his sophomore season as the team’s second-leading scorer with 13.9 points per game. The 6-0 guard ranks 12th in the league with a .460-field goal percentage. This season, he scored in double digits 22 times, including a season-high 24 points against Penn State Harrisburg (Feb. 17) and five 20-point games. Henry earned United East Volt Division Defensive Player of the Week on Jan. 22.
St. Mary’s College finished the season with a 16-12 (9-3 UEC) record for its second winning season in the last three years. The Seahawks locked up the No. 3 seed in the United East Volt Division Championship Tournament, advancing to the championship game. It was SMCM’s first championship game appearance since 2012-13.
