(3-0) Northern -8 @ (1-2) La Plata 6

La Plata has yet to enter stats from Friday nightโ€™s game.

The Knights scored on the last play of the game, following a 36-yard drive and an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Northern. The Patriotsโ€™ penalty came when one of their players taunted La Plataโ€™s sideline after sacking their quarterback. The game would have ended, but the Knights were awarded one more play which allowed them to score on a JT Phillipsโ€™ (senior quarterback) pass. In a bid to tie the game, La Plata was unable to convert the 2-point conversion, giving Northern the win.

La Plata travels to Westlake for the Week 4 SMAC GOTW. The game kicks off Friday at 7 p.m.

Thomas Stone was able to overcome Chopticon last Friday, improving to (2-1) on the season. After holding a seven-point lead most of the fourth quarter, Stone gave up a rushing touchdown just after the two-minute mark. After fumbling the ball on their ensuing possession, the Cougars kept Chopticon from scoring, forcing the game into overtime. Thomas Stoneโ€™s defense took the field first and stopped the Braves from scoring. The Cougars then ran the ball into the end zone, giving them their second win.

Stone only passed for 75 yards with senior Cole Lucia completing one of three passes for 49 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Senior Ronnie Carter was three for three passing for 26 yards. The Cougarsโ€™ running game was their strength, rushing for 301 yards. Senior Trent Gaskins ran for 254 yards on 15 carries and had three touchdowns, including the game winner. Senior Saadiq Ferrell had the teamโ€™s only interception.

St. Charles continued their historic season, beating Westlake for the first time in the schoolโ€™s short history. The Spartans improved to (3-0) after a hail mary touchdown on the last play of the game. Their win was not without controversy, a picture depicting the last play shows the ball resting on the ground in the end zone before it was scooped up by St. Charles and ruled a touchdown. Many shared and commented on social media about the call but there is no way to reverse the decision, therefore St. Charles still gets the win.

Westlake fell to (1-2) following the loss. The Wolverinesโ€™ senior quarterback Jalon Spencer completed 11 of 25 passes for 159 yards an the teamโ€™s only touchdown.
