LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A man wanted on an active arrest warrant was taken into custody after deputies found him hiding behind a home in Lexington Park—allegedly in possession of a glass pipe containing residue commonly associated with crack cocaine.

According to court records, the arrest occurred on May 25, 2025, after deputies with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on North Essex Drive. The suspect, identified as Brandon Lee Holdaway, 29, of Lothian, had reportedly been seen nearby. After confirming an active warrant for his arrest, deputies began canvassing the area.

A deputy patrolling the neighborhood spotted a man matching Holdaway’s description cutting through backyards. Officers located him crouched behind a property two doors down, attempting to conceal himself. He was detained and positively identified through his photo ID.

Upon placing Holdaway in custody, deputies conducted a standard search and located a glass smoking device in his front pocket. According to the deputy, the pipe contained a burnt wire mesh filter and visible blackened residue—consistent with crack cocaine use.

Holdaway was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, where he was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both offenses are misdemeanors under Maryland law, each carrying up to one year in jail and potential fines.

In addition to the new charges, Holdaway was served with his outstanding warrant. He was released on his own recognizance following an initial court appearance. His case remains open, with a trial scheduled for June 26, 2025, in St. Mary’s County District Court.

The Office of the Public Defender has entered a notice of appearance on Holdaway’s behalf and has filed motions seeking a speedy trial and discovery of evidence. He is expected to face proceedings on both the existing warrant and the new charges stemming from his arrest.

  1. Neck tattoos.. I’ve only seen one person with neck tattoos that wasn’t a criminal. That guy works/worked for St. Mary’s county and was awesome. Otherwise does anyone think it’s going to help you in a job interview? Will it help you in society to be able to exist without robbing/hurting other people?
