ANNAPOLIS, MD โ€“ The Hogan administration today announced that the state has completed negotiations and reached a contract agreement with the Maryland Professional Employees Council (MPEC) for Fiscal Year 2020.

Through mutual cooperation and good faith negotiations, MPEC employees will receive a three percent cost of living increase effective July 1, 2019; another one percent cost of living increase effective January 1, 2020 if revenues exceed projections by $75 million; a new classification series for procurement professionals that provides a defined career path and associated pay increases; and a Student Loan Repayment Program that will repay up to $20,000 in student loans for employees in specified information technology, engineering, and forensic science positions.

โ€œThis is great news for both our state and our hardworking employees,โ€ said Department of Budget and Management Secretary David Brinkley. โ€œWe worked diligently with MPECโ€™s bargaining team to come to an agreement that benefits us all – our state, our taxpayers, and our employees.โ€

These new considerations are in addition to the two percent cost of living increase for state employees that takes effect in January 2019 and the half percent increase and $500 bonus employees will receive in April 2019 due to last yearโ€™s agreement.
