  • The first donation day will be held Feb. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Calvert Middle School in Calvert County.
  • A second event is scheduled for Feb. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thomas Stone High School in Charles County.

Hope In Harmony is accepting band and string instruments in gently used, playable condition. Pianos, keyboards and guitars cannot be accepted.

According to the organization, instruments in better condition can be placed more quickly with students, helping remove financial barriers that often limit participation in school music programs.

Founded to promote equity and opportunity through music, Hope In Harmony works with local school systems to ensure students have access to the tools they need to participate in band and orchestra programs. The nonprofit emphasizes that music education supports not only artistic growth, but also confidence, connection and academic success.

“Every instrument donated helps remove barriers to music education and ensures students across our region have access to the joy, confidence and connection that music brings,” the organization said on its Facebook post.

Community members with unused instruments are encouraged to donate, giving new life to instruments that might otherwise sit unused.
