HUNTINGTOWN, Md. — Golden Retriever “Ben” went missing in the Huntingtown/Sunderland area, leading the community on a suspenseful six-day chase. Ben was reportedly spotted in several dangerous areas before finally being reunited with his owners, thanks in large part to community support.
When any dog gets loose, it is an owner’s worst nightmare. When Ben’s journey began, his owners, Shannon and Chris Wolfe, took to Facebook to ask for the community’s assistance in finding him. Help soon poured in from many community members, who offered tips on safely retrieving Ben, shared his lost dog poster on multiple “Lost/Missing Pets in Calvert County” pages, and reported sightings. These efforts were crucial in the search.

“My hope was broken or close to it several times, but the will to find him never left,” Wolfe said.
While Ben isn’t the only dog to ever get loose, the community’s collective efforts made his return especially meaningful.
For pet owners, local lost animal pages on Facebook can be a valuable resource. A simple share or tag can make a significant difference in reuniting pets with their families.
