A 17-year-old male operating a motorcycle without a rear tag attempted to flee from police on May 23 in the area of Cove Point Road and Route 4 in Lusby at 12:15 p.m.

Cpl. Thomas Phelps of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office was on routine patrol when he observed the motorcycle being driven at a high rate of speed. Phelps lost sight of the motorcycle but rounded a curve in the roadway and observed the motorcycle lying in the middle of the street.

Theย teen had lost control and been ejected. Phelps called for an ambulance, but, before it arrived, theย suspect jumped up and ran into the woods. After a short searchย the suspectย was located in Cove Point Park. He was flown by helicopter to Prince Georges Hospital.

Theย teen was charged on a youth report with multiple traffic violations and released to the custody of a parent at the hospital.
