
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — The Kocen Arts Center invites the community to an unforgettable evening of music at “Kocen Concert Series: Mac and Me,” a special candlelight performance presented as part of the Arts Council of Calvert County’s quarterly concert series.
The evening’s performer brings a captivating blend of artistry and authenticity, creating a musical experience that feels both intimate and deeply moving. Captain Brian O. Walden, U.S. Navy (Ret.), is the talent behind “Mac & Me,” set to perform at the Kocen Arts Center in Prince Frederick, Maryland, on March 13, 2026, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Set in a warm, candlelight atmosphere, the evening is designed to draw audiences closer to the music in a uniquely personal setting.
Since retirement as the Commanding Officer/Conductor of the United States Navy Band in Washington, DC, Walden has led bands at Samford University and Marshall University in recent years and currently leads at Old Dominion University. He holds a BA in Music/Religious Studies from Saint Leo University, FL, a master’s in music in Wind Ensemble Conducting from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA, and studied in the DMA Music education program at Boston University and PhD program in Music Education at George Mason University.
Walden combines vocals, trumpet and other instrumental skills, which have given him the opportunity to perform music on every continent (except for Antarctica). He has conducted international recording artists Jason Mraz, James Taylor, Colbie Caillat, the vocal jazz group Take 6, the rock band “The Fray,” Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Branford Marsalis (leader of the Tonight Show Band), Broadway star Neil Patrick Harris, and performed with Natalie Cole as well as many other artists. He continues performing internationally as a conductor and musical artist.
