LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Boone’s Bagels & Marketplace is getting ready for their Nov. 22 grand opening with lots of anticipation and social media fun. The shop, located at 41654 Fenwick Street in Leonardtown, has already amassed thousands of Facebook followers eagerly awaiting their opportunity to try fresh bagels and creative concoctions.

The grand opening will take place at 8:30 a.m., and Boone’s promised a free bagel to the first 50 customers in a humorous “Clash of the Titans”-themed post.

Boone’s has been keeping customers updated about their progress, including welcoming their bakers to the premises and presenting a Fruity Pebble-inspired bagel that was “kid-approved.” The shop also posted a chance to attend their invite-only soft opening on Nov. 16 and quickly got the 50 names they’d requested.

After the 22nd, Boone’s will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will sell fresh bagels as well as breakfast and lunch sandwiches. The shop will also offer coffee drinks and a selection of gourmet meats and cheeses. Customers will have dine-in and takeout options.

Boone’s has been drumming up support online since announcing the venture back in January. Their online community has grown since then and has expressed their excitement about having a local bagel store in Leonardtown. Boone’s aims to uphold the tradition of quality bagel-making while using the best ingredients.

Owners Leslie and David Boone said they think people are excited to have a New York-style bagel store/deli in the area — and credit their online following to keeping it real.

“I think people have really enjoyed us taking them along on the journey. There’s been a lot of highs and lows and we just kept it as real and as authentic as possible,” Leslie Boone said.

The Boones are excited to open their doors and were thrilled to share their heartfelt story behind Boone’s Bagels, one that can’t help but make you see the world through rose-colored, bagel-shaped glasses. The business started as a dream as the family baked and cooked together in their home kitchen and grew into a full-fledged operation. The Boones said that the business truly began to come to life when they told their four children, and that they have been their “biggest cheerleaders.”

“It’s moments like these that remind us how dreams aren’t solitary — they’re shared treasures that grow stronger with every hand that helps shape them,” the Boones wrote in an emailed statement to The BayNet.

They hope the atmosphere of the shop reflects that home-cooked, seasoned-with-love philosophy of the Boones and their family, and provides other families with as many chances to reminisce as they’ve had.

“Little did we know, this passion would blossom into something that would invite an entire community to join us,” the Boones wrote.

Like many of their followers, the Boones are eagerly awaiting their grand opening on the 22nd and are looking forward to bringing their love for food — and for gathering — to the people of Leonardtown.

“We’ll keep the doors open until every tummy in our community is happily full of bagels — because that’s what this is all about,” they wrote.
