ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. – I appreciate all the support I received and I want to thank those people who voted for me in the recent school board primary election for the at-large seat. It was a remarkably interesting experience.

Now, I want to encourage those who voted for me to vote in November for Brandie Edelen. She offers a combination of education, experience, and maturity that makes her most qualified. Her education includes graduate college degrees in psychology and human services. Her relevant experience includes that of a special education teacher and an adjunct college professor. She has an extensive background in community service. Also she has a successful small business she started in the recent years. More so, Brandie has the maturity gained as a mother of six children in the St. Maryโ€™s public schools. With this blend of a teacher and a parent of school children she understands the feelings of students, teachers, and parents. As her recent endeavor as a business owner this also gives her an added bonus with the knowledge of budgeting.

The role of the board of education is so important. It is to determine and adopt educational policies, rules, and regulations, and establish curriculum guides and courses of study. Policymaking is understanding the relationship with decision-making. Brandie is not at a disadvantage in collaborating with the other members of the school board and the superintendent of schools. She will not be a โ€œjunior varsityโ€ member.

I most strongly endorse Brandie Edelen.

Thank You

Angela Wathen
