Anibal Carrasquillo III

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. A Lexington Park man remains behind bars on attempted murder charges after deputies reported discovering multiple firearms and spent shell casings throughout his Kingfisher Court residence following a domestic incident that escalated into an hours-long barricade situation. Anibal Carrasquillo III, 39, is accused of firing approximately 12 rounds at responding deputies after barricading himself inside his home on Sept. 15, 2025.

According to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an address on Kingfisher Court around 10:28 p.m. for reports of a domestic-related assault involving a firearm. When deputies attempted to make contact with Carrasquillo, he allegedly fired a sequence of approximately 12 shots from within the residence and refused to exit. After several hours of negotiations, authorities say Carrasquillo surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.

Investigators later executed a search warrant at the residence and reported finding evidence of firearms discharge throughout the home. Charging documents allege deputies recovered numerous spent .223 rifle shell casings on the staircase leading to the second floor, multiple bullet holes in the hardwood floors near the front door, and a bullet hole in the front glass door. A single 9mm shell casing was reportedly located in the basement.

The documents also state that an AR-style rifle was found in a bathroom along with additional loaded magazines. A black Glock 43X pistol was reportedly located upstairs in the master bedroom, with one round chambered and five rounds in the magazine. According to court filings, the Glock was registered to Carrasquillo, and a receipt showed the firearm was purchased at a local store.

Carrasquillo faces five criminal charges, including attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Attempted second-degree murder carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison, while first-degree assault carries a maximum sentence of 25 years. The firearm enhancement charge carries additional potential penalties if convicted.

Judge David W. Densford presided over Carrasquillo’s bail review hearing on Sept. 17, 2025, and ordered that he be held without bond. Carrasquillo initially waived his right to an attorney but was later determined eligible for public defender representation.

The St. Mary’s County Public Defender’s Office entered an appearance on Sept. 17, 2025. On Sept. 23, 2025, private attorney Dennis Edward Boyle of Fox Rothschild LLP also entered an appearance on Carrasquillo’s behalf. Defense counsel filed motions for a speedy trial and discovery inspection shortly thereafter.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 14, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Mary’s County District Court Courtroom 1. The hearing is intended to determine whether sufficient probable cause exists to forward the case to Circuit Court for trial on the felony charges.

All proceedings will take place in St. Mary’s County District Court in Leonardtown. The St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.
