LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A Lexington Park woman was arrested on active warrants during a traffic stop on Pegg Road and was allegedly found with drug paraphernalia during a search incident to arrest. Sara Zetty, 40, of Lexington Park, faces drug possession and paraphernalia charges following the Oct. 7, 2025, arrest.

Deputy Absher was reportedly conducting proactive traffic enforcement in the area of Pegg Road when he observed a 2002 black Toyota Avalon bearing Virginia registration commit a traffic violation. According to an official statement, Deputy C. Stamp drove past the vehicle and reportedly observed the operator to be Zetty, who was reported to have active warrants for her arrest, according to law enforcement.

Court records disclose that deputies conducted a vehicle stop and confirmed Zetty was the operator of the vehicle. Zetty ostensibly self-identified, and her MVA photograph confirmed her identity. Zetty was placed under arrest based on the outstanding warrants.

Deputies say that during a search incident to arrest, they allegedly located a metal smoking device containing suspected crack cocaine residue in her left sweatpant pocket. Authorities cited training from the Southern Maryland Criminal Justice Academy, asserting that individuals commonly use metal smoking devices to inhale controlled dangerous substances, including crack cocaine.

Zetty was transported to St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, where she was charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance not cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. CDS possession not cannabis carries a maximum penalty of four years imprisonment and a $25,000 fine, while paraphernalia possession carries a maximum penalty of four years imprisonment and a $25,000 fine.

Court records show Zetty was released the same day on a $3,500 unsecured personal bond. An unsecured bond allows release without posting cash but holds the defendant financially responsible if they fail to appear in court. Zetty was reported to have initially waived her right to an attorney, but it was later determined by authorities that she was eligible for public defender representation.

The St. Mary’s County Public Defender’s Office entered an appearance on Oct. 8, 2025. Defense counsel filed motions for a speedy trial and discovery inspection following representation. A trial scheduling conference is set for Nov. 25, 2025.

All proceedings will take place in St. Mary’s County District Court in Leonardtown. The State’s Attorney’s Office for St. Mary’s County is prosecuting the case.
