LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — For Darius Gross, the road from Lexington Park to independent cinema hasn’t been easy — but it’s been purposeful. The multi-talented artist, known for his emotionally charged music and growing presence on screen, is quickly emerging as a creative force with something to say.

Raised in a town where opportunity can feel more like an idea than a reality, Gross has forged his own path. His latest work in “Ready,” the upcoming film by director Aaron Lawson, marks a turning point in his evolution as an artist. Though his role isn’t a leading one, Gross brings a quiet intensity that leaves a mark — subtle, but unmistakable.

“For me, acting and music are just two ways to do the same thing,” he says. “To connect. To be real. To show people what’s possible, even when the odds are stacked.”

Lawson, best known for his genre-blending film “Water,” currently streaming on Tubi and Amazon Prime, which earned praise for its surreal narrative and emotional depth, saw something in Gross that aligned with his vision — authenticity, presence and potential. Their work together on “Ready” felt less like a casting decision and more like creative alignment.

“It ain’t where you’re from, it’s where you’re at,” Gross says. “And right now, I’m exactly where I need to be.”

That sense of purpose shows. Whether behind the mic or in front of a camera, Gross brings a grounded presence and unflinching focus to his craft — a reflection of both where he comes from and where he’s headed.

“The sky is the limit,” he adds, without hesitation.

With one foot in music and the other in film, Gross is doing more than navigating two worlds — he’s building a bridge between them. And if his recent work is any indication, he’s just getting started.
