
ABINGTON, Pa. – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland Women’s Basketball Team (13-11) wrapped up the regular season with a trip to Abington, Pennsylvania for a match-up with the Penn State Abington Nittany Lions (11-14).
How It Happened
- The Nittany Lions scored the first six points of the contest before Olivia Liszt got the Seahawks on the board with a layup. Olivia Hedrick and Amira Whitaker each added a basket while Tramarie Mobray closed out the quarter with a heads-up layup. Penn State Abington led 12-8 after one.
- The Seahawks relied on Olivia Liszt and the long ball in the second quarter. Liszt connected on three straight three-pointers at the beginning of the quarter to give St. Mary’s their first lead of the contest. The Nittany Lions would take the lead back shortly thereafter and would take a two-point lead into halftime. Olivia Liszt added another three-pointer to end the half and Rayna Miller added two points off of two made free throws.
- Tramarie Mobray and Amira Whitaker scored the first four points for the Seahawks to begin the new half, but watched the Nittany Lions grow their lead to double digits. Tramarie Mobray and Olivia Hedrick kept battling and added another two points each toward the Seahawk tally. Olivia Liszt added five points in the quarter and Rachel Manning banked in a layup in the final seconds. Penn State Abington led, 58-37 going into the final 10 minutes.
- St.Mary’s began to earn trips to the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Olivia Liszt, Tramarie Mobray, and Sam Blaylock were all able to cash in from the charity stripe. Despite fighting for 40 minutes, the Seahawks would drop the contest, 74-53.
