Southern Trail Distillery’s Spring Vendor Fest

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Sunshine, spirits, and Southern Maryland charm came together at the 6th Annual Spring Shine Festival on May 10, where guests sipped moonshine cocktails, sampled local cuisine, and browsed artisan goods—all to the high-energy soundtrack of crowd favorite Pork Donut. Hosted at Southern Trail Distillery, the event drew visitors from across the region for an afternoon of live music, handcrafted flavors, and hometown celebration.

The fest drew cheerful crowds to its sunny lawn — families picnicking, friends gathered at tables, and vendors lining up under tents to share their creations.

Some attendees waited to enter the distillery building, while others browsed local vendor stalls under the sun. In the background, live music played from a band cheerfully named Pork Donut.

Among the many vendors was the owner of Miller’s Heavenly Scents, a business specializing in 100% soy wax candles and wax melts. She shared that she has participated in this event for six years, after initially supplying candles to the distillery.

Also present was Jennifer Hill of Bone Appetit Treats, a mother-and-daughter team. Hill explained that after her children left for college, she wasn’t sure what to do next — so she began cooking for her dog. That hobby soon turned into a business. Though the team has been operating for less than a year, they have already participated in several vendor events.

“When they all left, I didn’t know what to do… I had to do something,” said Hill

As the sun dipped lower, laughter, music and the scent of food lingered in the air — a reminder that events like these offer more than just a marketplace. They create space for stories, second chances and shared joy, all stitched together on a quiet distillery lawn in Southern Maryland.
