Leonardtown, MD – Cancer Care and Infusion Services (CCIS) at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital recently received a donation for $3,334 from Ledo Pizza’s corporate office in Annapolis, Maryland. During October, Ledo Pizza uses pink pizza boxes to help raise awareness of cancer charities. The campaign to promote awareness of various cancers raised $10,000, which was donated to local organizations.
Cole Western, owner of the Leonardtown Ledo Pizza, made the presentation to CCIS Director Joan Popielski on Dec. 30, 2015. Western lost his first wife to sarcoma, a type of cancer that develops from certain soft tissues, when she was 30 years old. It was due to his personal experience with cancer, as well as the hospital’s support of the Leonardtown restaurant, that led Ledo’s corporate office to donate to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for a second year.
