MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Lyon Family Farms, known for its springtime events, is adding something new to the calendar this year: a fall celebration. The farm will host its first-ever Autumn Harvest on the Farm, beginning Friday, Sept. 12, and running every weekend through Oct. 26.
For years, visitors have asked why the Mechanicsville farm didn’t host fall activities. This season, the family decided to change that, unveiling a lineup designed to showcase autumn traditions while keeping things rooted in farm-grown charm.
Admission is $12 per person, with children 3 and under free. Each ticket includes one pumpkin, a hayride, access to the petting zoo, yard games, pumpkin bowling, a hay maze, play structures and picnic tables. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays.
Highlights include a petting zoo featuring miniature Highland cows from K&J’s Co-Op, food trucks, local vendors and family-friendly activities for all ages. Seasonal treats such as apple cider slushes and donuts will be available for purchase, along with honey, jams, assorted produce, and a meat stand featuring beef, chicken and pork.
Lyon Family Farms made a point to note they won’t be offering a corn maze — a feature already popular at neighboring farms. Instead, they’re encouraging visitors to explore other local agritourism stops, including Bowles Farms in Clements, Forrest Hall Farm & Orchard in Mechanicsville, and Spider Hall Farm and Swann Farms in Calvert County.
With photo ops, pumpkins and the promise of autumn flavors, organizers hope the new festival will become a seasonal tradition for the community. More information is available on the Lyon Family Farms website and Facebook event page.
