
Owings, MD – On Sept. 6 at approximately 12:46 a.m., members of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Bureau and Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the intersection of Cross Point Drive and Wildfire Lane Owings for the report of a motorcycle crash.
Preliminary investigation revealed aย Yamaha R6, operated by Robert Allen Coleman Jr., a 37 of Annapolis, was traveling South on Cross Point Drive when it failed to negotiate a turn just South of Wildfire Lane. The motorcycle went off the roadway subsequently striking a brick mailbox where it came to final rest approximately 30 feet from the mailbox just off the roadway.ย ย ย
Deputies arrived on scene and found Coleman to be unresponsive and began to administer medical treatment. Officers were relieved by Emergency Medical Services from North Beach Volunteer Fire Department and Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department.ย Coleman was transported to the Calvert Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries sustained during the crash.ย
On scene investigation revealed alcohol and speed to be contributing factors in the crash.ย Deputy First Class C.
