ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Maryland’s photographers have just under two weeks left to submit their photos to the Maryland Photo Alliance’s (MPA) 4th annual Black and White Photo Contest.

The contest is open to anyone who has exceptional black and white photos to share. Individuals can submit up to four images – the cost to submit photographs is $15 for every two photos. MPA members can submit their first two photos free, and an additional two photos for $15. All entrants will have the opportunity to win prizes including:

  • 1st place: $400 in prizes
  • 2nd place: $200 in prizes
  • 3rd place: $100 in prizes

This year’s contest theme is “landscapes.” Organizers state on the contest website that “black and white landscape photography is timeless and classic. It highlights the contrast between light and dark elements, and it can draw attention to textures, forms, and patterns found in the natural world.”

Anyone interested in entering their photos in the contest can submit them online by 9 p.m. on March 31. Winners will be announced on Sunday, May 3, during a live webinar.

MPA is an association of more than 20 Maryland-based photography clubs dedicated to inspiring creative growth, building community connections, and advancing photographic skills for people across Maryland. The organization runs several contests and hosts events throughout the year.
