Spouse In The Grass: Woman Found Hiding In Neighbor’s Yard After Violating Protective Order

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A 41-year-old Charlotte Hall woman is facing multiple charges after being arrested twice in less than two weeks for allegedly violating a final domestic violence protective order intended to keep her away from her husband and his Mechanicsville residence.

The most recent incident occurred on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025. According to the statement of probable cause, Tina Michelle Chappelle used a key to enter her husband’s home on Army Navy Drive around 8 p.m. and told him not to call the police before fleeing on foot. Deputies were dispatched again less than three hours later, at 10:40 p.m., after Chappelle allegedly returned and began knocking on the door. A search of the area led to the discovery of Chappelle lying in the grass of a neighboring property, where she was arrested.

This was her second arrest for violating the same order in a short period. Court records show she was also charged with violating the protective order on July 24, 2025, just nine days after it was issued.

The final protective order, signed by a judge on July 15, 2025, and effective for one year, stemmed from a prior domestic incident. Court records show Chappelle was indicted by a St. Mary’s County grand jury for a second-degree assault that allegedly occurred on June 7, 2025.

For the multiple violations of a protective order, Chappelle faces misdemeanor charges, each carrying a maximum penalty of up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. The separate assault charge is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Court records show she was released on bond after each arrest and has multiple court dates scheduled in August and September.
