LUSBY, Md. — A Lusby man faces multiple drug-related charges following a welfare check that led to his arrest late Saturday night in Calvert County, according to court and police records.
Christopher William Walls, 36, of Lusby, was taken into custody on Jan. 25, 2026, after deputies responded to a report of a vehicle stopped in the roadway near Thunderbird Drive and Chisholm Trail. Authorities said a snowplow driver reported the driver appeared to be asleep behind the wheel.
When deputies arrived, they located a silver Toyota 4Runner stopped in the middle of the road with Walls as the sole occupant. Officers reported Walls was initially unresponsive and had to be awakened. After regaining consciousness, deputies observed signs of impairment, including slurred speech, disheveled clothing, drool marks, and the odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle.
Walls told deputies he had been driving earlier in the evening after leaving his parents’ home in Lusby and later attempted to stop at a local bar before continuing to drive to “clear his head,” records state.
Deputies conducted standardized field sobriety tests and observed multiple indicators of impairment. A subsequent breath test administered at the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office measured a blood alcohol concentration of 0.06, according to the statement of probable cause.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies reported locating multiple items consistent with drug distribution, including suspected cocaine residue, digital scales, plastic baggies, glass containers with residue, a blue straw, and several envelopes labeled with handwritten notations. Investigators also seized $1,359.83 in U.S. currency in various denominations.
Walls told deputies he worked at a dispensary in Washington, D.C., and denied ownership of the suspected controlled dangerous substances, stating the paraphernalia was not his. Several items recovered from the vehicle were sent to the Maryland State Police crime lab for testing.
Walls was charged with felony distribution of narcotics, misdemeanor possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis, and multiple counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Additional traffic-related charges were also filed in connection with the incident.
Court records show Walls was initially held without bond following his arrest. On Jan. 28, District Court Judge Robyn Riddle set bond at $7,500, which was later posted, allowing Walls’ release.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 24, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in Calvert District Court.
