Morning Gas Odor Leads To Brief Fire Dept. Response At Park Hall Elementary

PARK HALL, Md. — Firefighters responded to Park Hall Elementary School on Tuesday morning after a reported gas odor.

Crews were dispatched around 8:37 a.m., Feb. 3, 2026, to the school at 20343 Hermanville Road and used detection meters to search for the source. During the inspection, a firefighter located an unlit pilot light on a stove in the school’s kitchen, which was identified as the cause of the odor.

Firefighters ventilated the area to clear the smell and secured the stove from its gas supply. After confirming the building was safe, units returned to service.

No injuries were reported, and school operations resumed as normal.
