6:35 p.m. Update
Hollywood, MD – Three people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision on Hollywood Road in St. Mary’s County Thursday, Dec. 1. According to the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department (Company 7), several units were dispatched to the scene around 2:44 p.m. Crews arriving at the scene discovered one of the vehicles was on fire and one person was trapped in the vehicle.
“The occupant was removed from the vehicle and the fire was extinguished shortly after arrival,” Company 7 reported on its web site.
Two Maryland State Police (MSP) helicopters transported the injured to regional trauma centers.
The crash caused the temporary closure of a portion of Hollywood Road, forcing afternoon commuters—including school bus drivers—to consider an alternate route. The crash remains under investigation by police. Both the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and MSP responded to the crash.

Leonardtown, MD – St. Mary’s County Public Schools advised at 3:45 p.m. that buses that normally travel Route 245 may be delayed this afteroon due to the motor vehicle crash on Hollywood Road.
UPDATE 3:21 p.m.
Hollywood, MD – At approximately 2:40 p.m. a two-vehicle collision occurred on Hollywood Road in the area of Mount Pleasant Road. Sources report one of the vehicles caught fire. The fire was quickly extinguished and three motorists were extricated from the vehicle. The injured are now en route by ambulance to a landing zone and will flown to regional trauma centers. A portion of Hollywood Road remains closed until further notice.
Hollywood, MD – At approximately 2:40 p.m. St. Mary’s County authorities reported a serious motor vehicle crash on Hollywood Road in the area of Mount Pleasant Road. Crews are on the scene reporting several seriously injured motorists. Motorists should avoid the area until further notice.
Shortly after 3 p.m. the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office issued the following advisory: Serious accident Rt. 245 at FWD Drive. Use alternate route if possible. Expect delays.
Reports from sources indicate three helicopters have been dispatched to the area for transports.
