Dear Nationals Fans:
What a pleasure to be able to write to you in anticipation of another postseason run.
The Nationals are once again National League East Division Champions!
Two division titles in two consecutive years and four in six years is an impressive accomplishment. And the way this group of players and coaches achieved this success makes it even sweeter. We are so impressed with the way Mike Rizzo, Dusty Baker, their staffs, and the players have all worked together over 150 games (and counting) to hopefully create a championship-caliber season.
Every time our depth was testedโโโwhich we all know was quite often this seasonโโโour players responded in terrific fashion. Whenever we needed it, another player stepped up to fill any void that opened. This team refused to make excuses and was committed to winning games. It never mattered who Dusty listed on the lineup card on any given night.
As many of you know, Iโve dealt with some health issues this season. Although I wasnโt able to attend many games in-person, it was still a thrill to watch games on television or listen on the radio because this team was consistently tenacious. Baseball was one of the things that took my mind off of my medical concerns. But it wasnโt just the plays on the field that helped in my recovery. It was also the support of the larger Nationals community. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind thoughts and gestures. The messages of best wishes sent to me and my family mean so much.
In a few short weeks we will march together toward postseason excitement.
I know that once again our team can depend on your enthusiasm and passion. I know that once again Nationals Park will be filled with Nats fans in red shouting their support. I know that once again we will take a break from our everyday routine and join together for the uniquely fun experience that is October baseball.
And I know that this team is united in our One Pursuit of bringing a World Series title to Washington, D.C.
Thank you again for your support throughout the season. Go Nats!
Best regards,
Mark
