LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — St. Mary’s County Recreation & Parks announced construction on a new section of the Nicolet Skatepark will begin the week of Nov. 10. The existing skate area will stay open during the work, with temporary fencing separating riders from the construction zone.

County materials describe the Nicolet addition as part of a broader skatepark program that also advances improvements at Chaptico Park. Officials say the projects were shaped by public input and are being sequenced to limit disruptions, with Nicolet moving forward while the current features remain available.

No long-term closures were announced for this phase at Nicolet. The department said skaters should watch for posted detours and respect work-area barriers while crews are on site.
