NORTH BEACH, Md. A North Beach father and son are facing separate criminal charges following a day-long family incident that, according to officials, began with concerns about drug-impaired driving and ended with a reported domestic incident and the discovery of suspected crack cocaine.

According to court records, the incident began on Sept. 12, 2025, around 11:54 a.m. when deputies responded to reports that Gregory Mitchell Parks, 63, had taken his adult son’s car keys and refused to return them. Gregory Parks reportedly told officers he was concerned about his son Anthony’s narcotics use and possible impaired driving.

Deputy Armbruster advised Gregory Parks that withholding another person’s property could constitute theft. Court records state that after initially denying possession of the keys, Gregory Parks eventually admitted taking them but claimed he had hidden them somewhere in the house and could not recall where. When he continued to speak evasively despite warnings, he was arrested on charges of theft and obstruction of justice.

Deputies later located the car keys hidden in a rear bedroom, which, according to the report, confirmed he had concealed them despite claiming memory loss. Gregory Parks was released on his own recognizance the same day.

Later that evening, deputies returned to the same residence around 11:05 p.m. for a reported domestic disturbance. According to charging documents, Anthony Alfred Parks, 37, had allegedly kicked in the back door and assaulted a family member during an altercation that damaged a table and left broken glass throughout the living room. A witness told deputies they saw Anthony on top of the victim when the glass broke.

Anthony Parks was arrested on a charge of second-degree assault. According to police, he asked deputies to place his electronic cigarette in his vehicle. When Deputy Chase opened the car door, he observed copper wire shreds commonly used as drug paraphernalia. A subsequent search allegedly revealed suspected crack cocaine and drug packaging materials. Charging documents state Anthony Parks admitted the substances were “pressed crack cocaine.”

Gregory Parks faces misdemeanor charges of theft and obstruction of justice, which carry penalties of up to five years in prison and $5,500 in fines. Anthony Parks faces charges of second-degree assault, drug possession, and possession of paraphernalia, with combined maximum penalties exceeding 14 years in prison and more than $27,500 in fines.

Anthony Parks was released on his own recognizance despite the drug-related charges.

Trials are scheduled for Oct. 15, 2025, for Gregory Parks and Oct. 22, 2025, for Anthony Parks in Calvert County District Court. The Calvert County Public Defender’s Office represents Anthony Parks, while Gregory Parks waived his right to an attorney.

The State’s Attorney’s Office for Calvert County is prosecuting both cases.

  1. The father does not deserve his arrest or charges, he was trying to stop his son from committing a crime and then the son gets himself arrested anyways.

  2. The cops would rather people be put in danger on the road with a crackhead. Theft are you serious? Maybe check to make sure his crackhead son isn’t on crack before you hand him his keys back. What a joke these pigs are
