UPDATE – 10/9/2025 – Driver ID’d After Truck Overturns In Deadly St. Mary’s Crash
AVENUE, Md. — A person was killed Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 8, following a single-vehicle crash on Sugar Hole Road near Old Trapp Lane in Avenue.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 4:55 p.m. for reports of a serious motor vehicle collision with entrapment. First responders arrived to find a vehicle off the roadway with one occupant trapped inside.
Despite rescue efforts, officials on the scene confirmed the victim was deceased. The victim’s name will be released once next of kin are notified.
Fire and EMS units responded along with deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit is expected to investigate the cause of the crash. The roadway will be shut down for the next several hours. Avoid the area.
