One person died, another injured in Anne Arundel County collision

(Glen Burnie, Md.) – One person died and another was injured in a single-vehicle collision Wednesday evening in Anne Arundel County.

Shortly after 8:15 p.m., troopers from the Glen Burnie Barrack responded to the collision on I-97 South at MD 648. Both the driver and the passenger were entrapped with multiple injuries.

The driver, Rommel Reyes Benitez, 21, of Reisterstown, was transported to University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The passenger, Marcus Moore, 19, of Hampstead, was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore for treatment of his injuries.

The initial investigation revealed the vehicle was speeding and operating recklessly prior to the collision. The collision is still under investigation.
