Pedestrian struck by SUV, flown to hospital

UPDATE at 8:25 a.m.

Prince Frederick, MD – A 30 year-old man who was attempting to cross northbound Route 2/4 in Prince Frederick was struck by a sport utility vehicle, police reported. The incident occurred Monday morning, March 13 at approximately 7:11 a.m. near the Route 2/4 – Hallowing Point Road intersection.

A spokesman at the Maryland State Police Barrack in Prince Frederick told TheBayNet.com that the pedestrian’s injuries were non-life-threatening. The man was transported by ambulance to Calvert Memorial Hospital and then flown to a regional trauma center. Witnesses told police the man began running outside the crosswalk in an attempt to get across the road even though the light had just turned green.

Prince Frederick, MD – At 7:15 a.m. authorities in Calvert County reported a personal injury accident involving a pedestrian on Solomons Island Road in the area of Hallowing Point Road. A helicopter has been requested for patient transport.
