CHARLOTTE HALL, Md. — A woman from Lexington Park is facing misdemeanor theft charges after allegedly stealing five pickled sausages from a Dollar General in Charlotte Hall.

The incident occurred on May 21 at the store on Potomac Way. According to charging documents filed in St. Mary’s County District Court, 30-year-old Trinik Shatega King was seen concealing five individually wrapped “Big Mama” brand pickled sausages before exiting the store without paying. The items were valued at $9.75.

King was identified by store personnel and later confirmed through her Maryland driver’s license, according to Cpl. Vincent Pontorno of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office. The report states that King passed all points of sale without attempting to pay.

She has been charged under Maryland Criminal Law §7-104(3), which pertains to theft of property valued under $100. The misdemeanor offense carries a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and a $500 fine.

King, who resides on Lookout Drive in Lexington Park, was issued a summons on May 22 and formally served on June 3. She waived her right to a preliminary inquiry. A trial is scheduled for July 7 in Courtroom 1 of the St. Mary’s County District Court.

The St. Mary’s County Public Defender’s Office filed an appearance in the case on May 30 and is representing King. The case remains pending.

  1. Interesting. I could have swore when this article first posted it had ‘myg shots’ from three different times…as in she’s a repeat offender.

  2. I wonder if they’d be willing to drop the charges if she applys for food stamps?
