Current and retired troopers from the Prince Frederick Barrack, along with four Troopers from the Leonardtown Barrack combined efforts to win the 35th Annual Maryland State Police Softball Tournament held at Pine Cliff Park in Frederick, MD on June 23 and 24.
The double elimination tournament featured 17 teams from around the state.ย The Prince Frederick Barrack remained undefeated throughout the tournament.ย Prince Frederick faced the North East Barrack from Cecil County in the championship game.ย Prince Frederick has won the championship 7 times; including 6 out of the last 11.
Trooper First Class Eric Evans, son of Calvert County Sheriff Mike Evans, was selected as the tournamentโs Most Valuable Player.ย The MVP award is named after Corporal Ted Wolfe, an avid softball player, who was shot and killed in the line of duty in 1990.ย
