PORT TOBACCO, Md. — A longtime favorite waterfront restaurant in Charles County has reopened under a new name and renewed vision. The former Port Tobacco Marina and Restaurant is now PTR Waterfront — a revamped Port Tobacco favorite serving a fresh seafood menu with riverfront dining.

The reopening was officially announced on June 30 via the restaurant’s Facebook page — news the community had been eagerly awaiting. Managed by Southern Maryland locals Stephanie and Brendan Beatty, the seasonal reopening was delayed due to ongoing upgrades and renovations. During a June 12 meeting of the Charles County Board of License Commissioners, the board approved a trade name change to Port Tobacco Restaurant to clarify that the business operates separately from the marina.

New Look, Local Flavors

PTR Waterfront’s menu highlights a variety of seafood dishes, including crab cakes, oysters, seared scallops, shrimp tacos, and shrimp and grits. It also features American staples such as burgers, steaks, fresh salads and handcrafted cocktails.

While the menu includes many coastal favorites, steamed crabs are not currently on the menu.

PTR Waterfront’s kitchen is led by Executive Chef Christopher B. Willis and Chef de Cuisine Debbie Sheperd, both rooted in Southern Maryland and passionate about regional flavor. Willis brings more than 30 years of experience from kitchens across the East Coast, while Sheperd — raised on a local farm — is known for her focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients and creating meals that feel like home.
