Christy Marie Cusic was selected to become the “Miss 2012 St. Mary’s County Farm Bureau” representing St. Mary’s County with the Maryland Farm Bureau.ย  She will represent St. Mary’s County in the State Competition to be held at the Maryland State Fair in August 2012 where she will compete in the “Miss Maryland Agriculture 2012” contest.

Christy submitted a resume to the St. Mary’s County Farm Bureau office that expressed her knowledge and experience with agriculture, her community involvement and activities.ย  She received the “Miss 2012 St. Mary’s Farm Bureau” title on Saturday evening (March 10, 2012) at the St. Mary’s County Farm Bureau banquet which was held at the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department.

Christy is 16 years old and currently attends Chopticon High School as a Junior.ย  A very actively involved young lady who is a member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Future Educators of America (FEA), Mentor of Student to Student (S2S), and member of the Ladies Basket Ball team for the Chopticon Braves as well as team member playing Slow Pitch Softball thru St. Mary’s County Parks & Recreation.ย  She has a love for the farm community.ย  She lives on her family’s 50 acre farm, “Muddy Bottom Farm”, in Clements, MD with her parents JH and Sue Cusic.ย  She acknowledges that her experiences on her family’s cattle and horse farm have helped her to become very knowledgeable of our states agriculture community.ย  The county’s 4-H program has inspired her to expand her experiences.ย  She has served as a 4-H Club officer six of her eight years in 4-H.ย  This experience has given her great leadership skills and public speaking opportunities.ย  Her 4-H projects of Horses, Beef, Rabbits, Poultry and Gardening have allowed her to expand her knowledge of crop farming, livestock and the equestrian community her in St. Mary’s County.ย  Christy is a very avid equestrian rider and is a member of Southern Maryland Horse Council and Southern Maryland Trail Riders.ย  She enjoys horseback riding and competing in horse show events with her horse, Woody.

Christy was congratulated by Mrs. Judy Hayden at the St. Mary’s County Farm Bureau Banquet for accomplishment of becoming “Miss 2012 St. Mary’s Farm Bureau” representing St. Mary’s County with the Maryland Farm Bureau. Christy is looking forward to her involvement with the Maryland Farm Bureau and sharing her agriculture knowledge with her community.ย  She has plans to attend the local schools to interact with school children and provide a hand’s on learning activity in agriculture.ย  She will make numerous appearances this year at community events and interact with the public representing the St. Mary’s County Farm Bureau.
