
LEONARDTOWN, Md. — The St. Mary’s County Arts Council is offering scholarships of up to $1,000 to high school seniors who wish to pursue their passion for the arts at the college or university level.
Designed to recognize, encourage, and support young talent, the scholarships are available to graduating seniors residing in St. Mary’s County. Eligible students may attend public or private schools, or be homeschooled.
“St. Mary’s County Arts Council has established these awards to recognize, encourage, and support individuals who demonstrate excellence and a high level of interest in one or more artistic categories,” said the St. Mary’s County Arts Council.
Scholarship applicants must demonstrate interest and achievement in one or more of the following categories:
- Literary Arts (authors, journalists)
- Performing Arts (dance, musicians—instrumental and vocal, theater)
- Visual Arts (digital artists, graphic design, illustrators, multimedia, painters, photographers)
To qualify, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and submit two letters of reference and a personal essay. Dedicated art schools will also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Applications are due by midnight on Monday, March 3, 2025, and can be submitted via the St. Mary’s County BECA website.
