CHAPTICO, Md. — Emergency responders were dispatched Thursday morning, December 19, 2024, to a motor vehicle collision involving a St. Mary’s County Public Schools bus en route to Dynard Elementary School.

The incident occurred around 9 a.m. near the intersection of Hurry Road and Lacey Family Lane. First responders found a rear-end collision involving bus #596, which was carrying more than 15 students. The driver had exited the bus and was in a nearby driveway when crews arrived.

The driver of the striking vehicle, a woman, was evaluated at the scene by EMS but declined further medical care, signing a care refusal form. No injuries among the students or bus driver were reported.

Police continue to investigate the incident.

  1. What a clown… texting or doing something else distracting no doubt… Plus Hurry Rd. may as well have no speed limit, people fly up and down that road.
