
UPDATE 3/2/2026: Pilot Identified In Fatal Ultralight Plane Crash In Hollywood
UPDATE 10:25 a.m.: Following an extensive search, the aircraft was located in a wooded area between Hollywood Road and St. Johns Road. Crews reached the plane and confirmed one occupant was on board. The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim.
HOLLYWOOD, Md. — Emergency crews are searching for a reported aircraft Saturday morning following a call about a possible plane crash near Dorsey Park in the Hollywood – Leonardtown area.
At approximately 9:08 a.m. on February 28, 2026, a caller reported an airplane crash in the area of Dorsey Park. Fire and rescue units were dispatched and are currently staging at Dorsey Park and CSM as they work to locate the aircraft.
Maryland State Police Trooper 7 and a Navy SAR helicopter from NAS Patuxent River have been requested to assist with the search efforts from the air.
Authorities have not confirmed whether an aircraft has been located or whether there are any injuries.

Though his name has not yet been released, the pilot was a very respected member of the aviation community and St Mary’s. He was a stickler for making sure things were right and safe. We are scratching our heads at what happened.
