fire in maryland

WALDORF, Md. — Fire crews responded to a shed and brush fire behind a home in Waldorf Sunday afternoon.

The incident was reported around 12:04 p.m. on April 12, 2026, in the 13300 block of Poplar Hill Road. Callers initially reported a shed and surrounding grass on fire in the backyard, noting that no one appeared to be home at the time.

Firefighters arrived to find a shed fully involved in flames, with the fire spreading to nearby brush and grass. Crews quickly deployed hose lines and worked to contain the fire, preventing it from extending to the main residence.

A tanker and additional units were requested to assist with water supply and suppression efforts. The fire was brought under control, and crews remained on scene to extinguish hotspots and ensure the area was safe.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
