Indian Head, MD – A late afternoon fire that destroyed a 20-foot-by-30-foot shed in Charles County Jan. 27 was deliberately set, state investigators reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, the blaze occurred on Tippett Knolls Place in Indian Head.

โ€œA passerby noticed the fire coming from the area of Route 210 and Lower Wharf Road,โ€ a deputy fire marshalโ€™s report stated. โ€œThe fire also caused damage to the siding of a neighboring occupied dwelling.โ€

The estimated loss is $10,000. Fifteen firefighters responded to the one-alarm blaze and brought the flames under control in 20 minutes. No injuries were reported. Authorities have not determined who owned the shed.

Investigators determined the fire originated inside the structure and an unknown person or persons ignited available combustibles. No arrests have been made at this time.
